Downsizing Government
Fiscal Responsibility and More Freedom
The federal government has become a massive and wasteful revenue spending machine on the war path to financial crisis and ruin. With the help of the CATO Institute and their incredibly well researched series on “Downsizing the Federal Government” we can get Washington back on track.
Department of Agriculture
This department spent over $146 Billion in fiscal year 2018, much of which was money that was distributed in federal subsidy programs that helped massive farming operations with multi-million dollar incomes compound their wealth and strong arm smaller family owned farms.
Department of Education
This department spent over $64 Billion in fiscal year 2018, much of which was shifted through 110 different subsidy programs. Nearly all federally funded or regulated education programs have failed or cost more than the success can justify. Many of these programs would be more successful at the State level.
Department of Energy
This department spent over $28 Billion in fiscal year 2018, much of which lead to the destabilization of energy markets, lobby favor for unadvised energy projects, and billions in subsidy programs that were dead end schemes with large cost overruns and little result to show.
Department of Health
This department spent over $1.1 Trillion in fiscal year 2018, much of which was distributed through entitlement programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. These programs have generated a massive debt obligation that is growing faster than we can contribute and leading us into economic peril.
Department of Labor
This department spent over $39 Billion in fiscal year 2018, much of which was contributed to the unemployment benefits system and employment training programs that are redundant and less effective than similar solutions already available in the private sector. It also oversees union and workplace regulation.
Social Security Admin
The Social Security Administration spent over $1 Trillion in fiscal year 2018, much of which was used for retirement, disability, and SSI benefits. These programs have become financially unstable and are in major need of reform with a greater reliance on personal savings and retirement.
