Sam Adams withdrawals from 2020 race

Candidate returns to GOP and supports Congressman Waltz

Daytona Beach, FL – 08/06/19 – Today, Sam Adams of Daytona Beach is officially withdrawing his candidacy for the 2020 general election for Florida’s 6th Congressional District seat. Mr. Adams initially filed his candidacy in early April of this year and had intended to run as a Libertarian opponent to Congressman Michael Waltz. After several months of campaigning and working within the executive structure of the Libertarian Party, Mr. Adams made the decision to return to the Republican party, which he believes better aligns with his conservative values. Due to this change in party affiliation Mr. Adams is conceding qualification for this race and has committed to supporting the incumbent Congressman, Michael Waltz. Mr. Adams intends to continue growing his business and focusing on activism and legislative lobbying activities within the district.  

In his own words – Mr. Adams has released the following statement following this announcement, “As a young man I always held conservative and constitutional values. It should come as no surprise that when I became of voting age that I happily registered as a Republican and even volunteered on the McCain and Romney campaigns. I have always, and will always, be an adamant defender of our constitution and of American’s inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and security in their property. However, I believe that the Libertarian Party is not the representative vehicle to achieve these goals and I refuse to believe that the Republican Party is no longer the galvanized body of representation for the American People and their prosperity. I will work tirelessly to support and aid our Republican officials, at all levels of our government, to uphold our conservative and constitutional values. I am encouraged by President Reagan’s quote ‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.’ And it is this quote that provokes my ambition to lead my community, my party, and our future generations in the fight to preserve and protect our freedoms.”
